Former Manchester United forward Andy Cole has made an early prediction for the upcoming Premier League season, expressing his belief that the Red Devils could lift the title under Michael Carrick’s management.

Carrick, who was initially appointed as interim head coach until the end of the campaign, earned a permanent position after leading United to a third-place finish in the Premier League. His tenure has been marked by renewed confidence within the squad and a dynamic, possession-based style of play that has brought out the best in United’s talented roster.

With Pep Guardiola stepping down from his role at Manchester City, Cole believes this could open the door for Carrick’s side to mount a serious title challenge. Speaking to Sky Sports, Cole said, “If they can start this season with the same confidence they finished with last season, anything is possible. Pep leaving Manchester City means we’ve got a real shot at winning the Premier League.”

While Arsenal are expected to begin the campaign as favourites to retain their crown, other top contenders such as Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester City are entering transitional phases with new managers taking charge. This could provide an opportunity for United to capitalise on the shifting dynamics at the top of English football.

Reports suggest that Manchester United’s summer transfer plans focus on strengthening their midfield, with West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes and Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers among the targets. Following a series of attacking reinforcements last season, Carrick is now looking to balance the squad with strategic signings in the centre of the park.

If those additions materialise and United maintain their momentum, Cole’s optimism could well prove justified as the club seeks to reclaim its position at the summit of English football.
