Manchester United reportedly see Morgan Rogers as the ideal candidate to eventually replace Bruno Fernandes at Old Trafford, according to journalist Tyrone Marshall.
The Manchester Evening News reporter revealed earlier today that the Aston Villa youngster has caught United’s attention as the club prepares for another major squad overhaul this summer.
At the same time, Aston Villa are said to be open to letting the 23-year-old forward leave once the transfer window opens.
Although Rogers has become one of Unai Emery’s key players, the club recognises that his potential sale could bring in a significant transfer fee, providing additional funds to strengthen the squad ahead of their return to the UEFA Champions League next season.
Manchester United are also planning for a campaign that includes Champions League football, making squad depth a top priority before the 2026/2027 season begins.
INEOS, who now oversee United’s football operations, have demonstrated a preference for recruiting players with proven Premier League experience. Their signings last year, including Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, reflect this strategy — and Rogers fits that same profile perfectly.
The winger joined Aston Villa in February 2024 from Middlesbrough in a £15 million deal and has since accumulated 85 Premier League appearances in the claret and blue shirt.
His record at Villa is impressive, contributing 21 goals and 19 assists during that period.
It is yet to be determined where Rogers would prefer to continue his career next, but a move to United could see him reunite with his former Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick, who has now been confirmed as United’s permanent manager following a successful interim tenure.
However, any discussions about personal terms will have to wait until England complete their World Cup campaign. Rogers was selected by Thomas Tuchel for the national squad last month and is currently preparing for his first major international tournament.
