WAJO - The Portugal national football team remains the top favourite for the 2026 World Cup according to Tempe Subdistrict Head, Aldi Mulyadi.

Aldi expressed this opinion when speaking to Tribun-Timur.com at his office on Jl Bau Baharuddin, Sengkang, on Thursday (4 June 2026).

He stated that Cristiano Ronaldo, who also serves as captain of the Portugal national team, is one of the key players for the squad nicknamed "Os Navegadores" or "The Navigators".

“The 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada will be the ultimate test for the superstar Cristiano Ronaldo,” said Aldi.

“It could even be the first and last World Cup title for Ronaldo if he manages to lead Portugal to victory in the world’s biggest football event,” he added.

He further noted that Portugal’s player lineup is very strong, both in defence and attack.

“In defence, there’s Nuno Mendes, who has just won the Champions League title with PSG. That achievement will surely motivate him to aim for another championship,” Aldi explained.

In midfield, Aldi mentioned Manchester United’s top playmaker Bruno Fernandes.

“We all know Bruno is the main engine and creative force behind Portugal’s attacks. I believe his presence will greatly enhance their offensive power and scoring potential in every match,” he emphasised.

Aldi hopes that the 2026 World Cup will serve as a defining moment for Cristiano Ronaldo.

“Cristiano Ronaldo’s talent and experience are already complete—except for the World Cup title. Hopefully, this will be his final chance to prove that he is one of the greatest forwards in football history,” Aldi said passionately.

It is known that the world’s biggest football tournament will take place across three host nations: the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

The 2026 World Cup will kick off on Thursday (11 June 2026) at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. (*)
