The Czech Republic national football team has officially announced its 26-player squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place from 11 June to 19 July 2026.
The announcement was made through the team’s official Instagram account on Wednesday, 3 June 2026.
Head coach Miroslav Koubek has assembled a balanced mix of seasoned veterans and promising young talents for the tournament, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Despite having several experienced players, every member of this Czech squad will have the opportunity to make their World Cup debut in 2026.
The team’s last appearance on football’s biggest stage came in the 2006 edition held in Germany.
Several senior players remain the backbone of the team, including West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek, Bayer Leverkusen striker Patrik Schick, Hoffenheim defender Vladimir Coufal, and Vladimir Darida, who currently plays for Hradec Kralove.
Patrik Schick is expected to lead the attack. The Bayer Leverkusen forward was in fine form during the qualifiers, scoring five goals to help secure the Czech Republic’s place in the finals.
In goal, Koubek has called up Lukas Hornicek from Braga, Matej Kovar of PSV Eindhoven, and Jindrich Stanek from Slavia Prague.
The defensive line includes experienced names such as Vladimir Coufal and Robin Hranac, both from Hoffenheim, along with Ladislav Krejci from Wolverhampton Wanderers, David Jurasek, and David Zima from Slavia Prague.
In midfield, Tomas Soucek is expected to orchestrate play alongside Pavel Sulc, who currently represents Olympique Lyon. Koubek has also selected Lukas Cerv and Alexandr Sojka from Viktoria Plzen, Lukas Provod and Michal Sadilek from Slavia Prague, Denis Visinsky from Viktoria Plzen, and veteran Vladimir Darida.
One of the most eye-catching inclusions is 17-year-old Hugo Sochurek from Sparta Prague, who is the youngest player in the squad and seen as one of the Czech Republic’s brightest future prospects.
In attack, besides Patrik Schick, the Czech Republic will also rely on Adam Hlozek from Hoffenheim, Jan Kuchta from Sparta Prague, and Slavia Prague’s duo Tomas Chory and Mojmir Chytil.
With this blend of experience and youth, the Czech national team hopes to end its long wait and make a strong impression at the 2026 World Cup.
Czech Republic’s Return to the World Cup
After a 20-year absence since their last participation in the 2006 World Cup, the Czech Republic will finally return to the global stage in 2026.
The team’s qualification through the highly competitive UEFA zone demonstrates that the Czech Republic still has the quality to compete and potentially surprise in the tournament.
However, the battle for the title is expected to remain dominated by traditional World Cup powerhouses.
In an interview aired on Sunday, 31 May 2026, Arnan Binafsihi, Vice Chairman of Oranje Indonesia, commented that the balance of power at the 2026 World Cup continues to revolve around the usual top contenders. “When it comes to the eventual winners, it’s unlikely to go far from FIFA’s top 10 ranked teams... unless there’s a major surprise, it will still be among the established giants,” he said.
