Slovenia are set to host Cyprus in an international friendly match at the Stozice Stadium in Ljubljana tonight.

The kickoff for the Slovenia vs Cyprus clash is scheduled at 23:00 WIB on Thursday (4 June 2026) night.

Both teams will not be participating in the World Cup, so their focus will shift to upcoming competitions later this year.

Slovenia failed to qualify for the World Cup after finishing third in their UEFA qualifying group without registering a single win out of six matches, recording four draws and two defeats.

In their last friendlies in March, Slovenia lost 1-0 to Hungary before bouncing back with a 3-2 victory over Montenegro.

The team, nicknamed Fantje, will use this friendly against Cyprus—and another one against Croatia on 7 June—to prepare for the upcoming UEFA Nations League cycle, which begins in September.

They are set to face North Macedonia, Scotland, and Switzerland in the Nations League.

Meanwhile, Cyprus also failed to qualify for the World Cup after finishing fourth in their qualifying group behind Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Romania.

Cyprus have never qualified for either the European Championship or the World Cup.

In their recent March friendlies, Cyprus suffered a 1-0 defeat to Belarus before clinching a 3-2 win over Moldova.

Charalampos Charalampous scored twice after Grigoris Kastanos opened the scoring to secure the win for Cyprus.

After this match against Slovenia, Cyprus will take on Liechtenstein in another international friendly on 7 June.

Cyprus will also be focusing on their preparations for the upcoming UEFA Nations League, with the new cycle beginning in September.

The Galanolefki will be competing against Montenegro, Latvia, and Armenia in the Nations League.
