Amid the backdrop of the ongoing presidential election buzz, Real Madrid have continued their transfer dealings and appear on the verge of completing their first major signing of the summer window.

The Spanish giants are currently negotiating with two defensive players for potential moves to the Santiago Bernabeu, aiming to finalise both transfers before the commencement of the FIFA World Cup.

The two names under consideration are Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan and Ibrahima Konate, who is now a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Liverpool.

As per reports by Matteo Moretto, the Dumfries transfer could be wrapped up sooner than initially anticipated, with the Dutch full-back expected to arrive in Madrid within the next few hours to undergo his medical examination.

This rapid development holds significance as Real Madrid had only recently been linked with the Netherlands international, signalling the club’s intent to act swiftly in the transfer market.

It seems Los Blancos are approaching the window with a focused, decisive strategy and are prepared to back new head coach Jose Mourinho with strong support in strengthening the squad.

Dumfries is reportedly close to agreeing on a three-year contract, with expectations that Real Madrid will pay his €25 million release clause to complete the deal.

Indications suggest that Dumfries is being lined up as the first-choice left-back for Los Blancos next season, especially following underwhelming performances last term from both Fran Garcia and Alvaro Carreras.

Recent reports have also suggested that Mourinho has not been impressed by Carreras, a sentiment shared by former coach Alvaro Arbeloa, who is also said to have reservations about the youngster.

As a result, Dumfries could potentially take over Carreras’ position within the squad, although there is currently no confirmation that Carreras will depart from the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.
