Kushal Bhurtel, playing for Nepal, made history on May 31 during the Asian Games Men's T20I Qualifier 2026 match against China at the Singapore National Cricket Ground. He hit six consecutive sixes off a single over, becoming only the sixth player to ever do so in international T20 cricket.
The right-handed batter struck his first six on the initial ball of the over in the 9th of the Nepal innings and then continued to clear the fence six times consecutively when China decided to bring in left-arm spinner Chen Zhuo Yue to bowl. The last ball of the over was also ruled a wide which takes the total in the over to 37 runs.

The 9th over is now the second most expensive over in the history of T20I cricket. Vanuatu's bowler Nalin Nipiko still holds the record for the same when he conceded 39 runs against Samoa where 3 no-balls were also part of the overall score.

Bhurtel Enters Elite T20I List
Bhurtel now has company with some of the finest batters in T20 cricket history. Yuvraj Singh of India hit his six sixes in an over of Stuart Broad in 2007 T20 World Cup match, while Kieron Pollard, captain of West Indies repeated this remarkable feat against Sri Lanka's Akila Dananjaya in 2021.
Nepal's own Dipendra Singh Airee joined this elite club in 2024 against Qatar and Manan Bashir of Bulgaria hit six sixes in an over against Gibraltar in 2025.
Across international cricket only, a few players have registered six sixes in a single over; Herschelle Gibbs of South Africa hit this milestone against the Netherlands in a 2007 ODI World Cup game, while USA batter Jaskaran Malhotra managed this against Papua New Guinea in 2021.
Nepal Post Huge Total
Bhurtel wasn't done after the monumental over either. He finished on 129 off just 43 deliveries including 16 maximums and 5 fours. That's now the second-highest individual T20i score for Nepal ever, the highest is 137* (50) from Kushal Malla when he demolished the Mongolia's bowlers in 2023 Asian Games.
With Bhurtel in form Nepal managed to get a massive 313/2 (which is now the third-highest team total in T20i cricket). Nepal were too good for China who were all out for just 92 as Nepal registered a staggering 221-run victory to get their Asian Games Men's T20I Qualifier 2026 journey underway.
The video of Bhurtel hitting sixes in consecutive deliveries has now spread rapidly across social media, as cricket fans have likened the explosive innings to some of the best displays of power hitting in the game's history.
