Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have become the latest club to show serious interest in Leicester City’s young sensation Jeremy Monga, as they aim to fend off competition from rival teams in the race for his signature.
Reports indicate that Arsenal are keen to land Leicester City’s 16-year-old winger Jeremy Monga, who made his senior debut last season for the Championship side.
So far this season, Monga has been directly involved in three goals — scoring once and providing two assists — across seven starts and 25 Championship appearances for Leicester, averaging 34 minutes of playing time per game.
Arsenal are said to be long-time admirers of the teenager, with The Telegraph reporting that Mikel Arteta has been following Monga’s progression closely. The winger is considered one of the brightest emerging talents in English football.
Monga is known for his exceptional pace and smooth ball control, often described as a natural dribbler who can operate effectively both on the flanks and in a central attacking role as a playmaker.
During Leicester’s Premier League campaign last season, Monga signed his first professional contract with the club. The deal is set to become active when he turns 17 this coming summer.
Despite Leicester’s relegation, Monga made history by becoming the second-youngest player ever to appear in a Premier League match — a record that now ranks him third behind Arsenal’s Max Dowman, featured in FourFourTwo’s ‘The Boy’s A Bit Special’ series, and Ethan Nwaneri.
At just 15 years old, Monga made his Premier League debut in April 2025, coming on for a 17-minute cameo during Leicester City’s 3-0 defeat to Newcastle United. He wore a shirt without a sponsor logo in compliance with UK gambling regulations.
Following that match, Leicester manager Ruud van Nistelrooy praised the youngster, saying, “He showed glimpses of real quality at such a young age.”
The 16-year-old, who has already represented England at youth level, is well-regarded for his direct style of play. He has played alongside Arsenal’s Max Dowman, another technically gifted dribbler currently making his mark in top-flight football.
Arsenal have a reputation for trusting young talent in the Premier League, and they are now looking to add the third member of the league’s youngest-ever debutant trio to their ranks this summer.
Although Monga’s professional contract with Leicester is close to activation and the club faces a potential summer overhaul, his long-term future at the King Power Stadium remains uncertain.
Leicester’s management are planning a rebuild for next season — whether they remain in the Championship or achieve promotion — with a focus on developing their youth prospects, among whom Monga stands out as a key figure.
However, Arsenal face competition from Manchester United and Manchester City, as reported by TEAMtalk, both of whom have also expressed interest in the young winger.
If Arsenal are successful in bringing Monga to the Emirates, it would mean that the Premier League’s three youngest-ever debutants — Ethan Nwaneri, Max Dowman, and Jeremy Monga — would all be part of the Gunners’ squad simultaneously.
