The 16-year-old winger has become one of the most sought-after young players in England, attracting interest from several of Arsenal’s Premier League rivals.
Under Mikel Arteta’s leadership, Arsenal are poised to outmanoeuvre fierce competition to secure the services of one of England’s brightest footballing prospects.
Following their triumph in the 2025/26 Premier League and a runner-up finish in the 2026 Champions League, the Gunners are focused on strengthening the squad that brought an end to their 22-year wait for the domestic title.
Reports now suggest that Arsenal have beaten eight competing clubs to sign an emerging young talent determined to make his mark in the Premier League.
The teenager already boasts Premier League experience, having once become the second youngest player ever to appear in the competition.
Jeremy Monga, currently the third youngest after Arsenal’s Max Dowman and Ethan Nwaneri, spent the past season playing in League One following Leicester City’s unexpected relegation — though that chapter now appears to be closing.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Arsenal are in advanced talks to sign Monga, with Leicester insiders confirming that eight other clubs have also expressed interest in the 16-year-old winger.
Both Manchester United and Manchester City have been linked with Monga throughout 2026, while several leading European clubs are also reported to be monitoring his situation closely.
The English prospect, who contributed to three goals in just over 1,000 minutes for Leicester this season, is widely regarded as one of the most promising young players in the country.
It is believed Monga’s transfer could exceed £10 million, with the final fee potentially being set by a tribunal if he departs Leicester, who are preparing for major changes following their drop to the third tier.
Such a deal would likely break the record for the most expensive transfer involving a player from the English third division, marking a significant moment in the Foxes’ turbulent summer.
Monga’s professional contract with Leicester is scheduled to take effect on his 17th birthday, July 10. However, given the club’s current situation, his departure seems almost certain.
Known for his direct approach, adaptability, and exceptional dribbling skills, Monga has already played alongside Max Dowman — who featured in FourFourTwo’s ‘The Boy’s A Bit Special’ series — within England’s youth setup.
During his Premier League debut against Newcastle United in April 2025, then-manager Ruud van Nistelrooy praised the youngster for showing “glimpses of quality at such a young age.” Monga featured for 17 minutes in the 3-0 defeat, notably wearing a shirt without a sponsor logo due to gambling regulations.
If Arsenal successfully finalise the signing, they will not only address a key position lacking depth but also complete a unique trio of the youngest Premier League debutants — all under their banner.
