Desk: The demand for electric vehicles is continuously increasing in the Indian market and Tata Motors is preparing to further strengthen its hold in this segment. The company is already among the largest EV manufacturing companies in the country and has now prepared big plans for the coming year. Tata’s target is to increase the share of electric models in its total vehicle portfolio to 30 percent by 2030. Under this strategy, the company is soon going to launch two new electric SUVs Sierra EV and Safari EV.
Tata Sierra EV has been in the news for a long time. The company can launch it in the market during June 2026. Although, the information about battery and motor has not been shared officially, but it is believed that 65kWh and 75kWh battery pack option of Harrier EV can be given in it. The new Sierra EV is likely to be offered in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. Once fully charged, it can be capable of providing a driving range of up to 500 kilometers, which will make long distance journeys easier.

Many new technologies will be included in Sierra EV. It can have facilities like vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging, with the help of which other electronic devices or vehicles can also be charged. Talking about design, it will have closed front grille, new style bumper, special EV badging and aerodynamic alloy wheels. Emphasis has also been laid on making the cabin premium and futuristic.
Tata’s popular 7-seater SUV Safari is also going to launch in electric avatar soon. According to media reports, its production may start from August 2026, while the launch is expected to happen around the festive season. This electric SUV will be based on the company’s Acti.ev+ platform. In terms of powertrain and battery pack, it may have a lot of similarity with Harrier EV. Its driving range on full charge can be up to about 600 kilometers.
Safari EV may be provided with multi-link rear suspension and different terrain modes, which will provide better driving experience in different road conditions. The list of features may include 540-degree camera, level-2 ADAS, OTA updates, closed grille and special EV design elements. With these features, Safari EV can emerge as Tata’s new flagship electric SUV.
