Bhopal: A big development has come to light in the famous Twisha Sharma death case of Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh. The court has sent former district judge Giribala Singh and his son Samarth Singh to judicial custody for 14 days. On Tuesday, both of them were taken to Bhopal Central Jail, where they will now be identified by prisoner numbers.
Giribala Singh becomes prisoner number 71
According to jail sources, 63-year-old Giribala Singh has been kept in the women’s medical section. His identity is now recorded in jail records as prisoner number 71. Whereas his son Samarth Singh has been sent to barrack number-4, where he has been given prisoner number 1782. According to jail rules, both of them have been provided with daily needs. This includes essential things like plate, bowl and bedsheet.
Heated debate in court
During the hearing held on Tuesday, Giribala Singh himself presented his side. During this, a heated argument was also seen between him and lawyer Anurag Srivastava appearing on behalf of Twisha Sharma’s family.
Giribala Singh alleged that his son Samarth Singh was manhandled in the Jabalpur District Court premises. On this the other side said that if this has happened then the CCTV footage of the court should be examined. After this, there was a tense atmosphere in the court for some time.
Twisha’s family raised questions
During the hearing, Twisha Sharma’s family also raised the question as to how Samarth Singh got shelter in the chamber of the Principal District and Sessions Judge in Jabalpur. Samarth’s lawyer argued that any person has the right to go to a safe place if he feels threatened.
Who was Twisha Sharma?
33 year old Twisha Sharma was a resident of Noida. She did MBA and worked in marketing and communication sector in Delhi. Twisha was also associated with modeling and had won the title of ‘Miss Pune’. In December 2025, she was married to Bhopal lawyer Samarth Singh.
On May 12, 2026, Twisha was found dead in her in-laws’ house. Initial investigation declared it to be suicide, but the family has made serious allegations of dowry harassment and mental pressure. Investigating agencies are now also examining digital evidence and chat records.
