BHU IIRF Ranking 2026: Banaras Hindu University has suffered a setback in this year’s rankings. BHU’s ranking has dropped to the 5th position this time around.
BHU IIRF Ranking 2026: The IIRF (Indian Institutional Ranking Framework) Rankings for 2026, covering the country’s renowned educational institutions, have been released. This year, IIT Bombay has secured the top spot among engineering institutes, while JNU leads the University category. Meanwhile, BHU has also successfully secured a place within the top 10 in the University category; however, compared to last year, BHU’s rank has slipped in the current rankings.
BHU’s Ranking Declines Compared to 2025
Banaras Hindu University has faced a setback in this year’s rankings. In the 2025 IIRF rankings, BHU held the 3rd position in the University category; however, in the 2026 rankings, it has slipped two places to reach the 5th position. Consequently, BHU’s dominance within the list of the country’s top universities appears to have diminished somewhat.

How to Get Admission to BHU?
Admission to many undergraduate courses at BHU is conducted through the CUET UG examination. Students must first appear for the CUET UG exam and select the specific subjects prescribed for their desired course. Once the CUET results are released, candidates are required to register on the BHU admission portal. Subsequently, seat allocation is carried out based on merit, seat availability, and the counseling process.
