The application portal for the re-evaluation of Class 12 answer sheets by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) went live on June 2. However, students continue to report grievances regarding their inability to submit applications. Amidst this, CBSE has claimed that attempts are being made to hack its portal. Based on inputs received from its cybersecurity team, CBSE stated that the most recent attack was a 'Denial of Service' attempt; this resulted in the portal receiving 1.5 million hits within just two minutes, alongside over 100,000 unauthorized attempts to access files.

Let us examine this entire matter in detail. We will explore what CBSE has said regarding the hacking attempts on the Class 12 re-evaluation portal and determine whether the CBSE portal has faced hacking incidents in the past.

**Cyber Attacks Being Launched on the Portal**
CBSE stated that on June 2, thousands of students attempted to apply for the re-evaluation of their Class 12 answer sheets; however, certain malicious elements attempted to disrupt services by unleashing a barrage of cyber attacks. CBSE confirmed that the most recent incident was a 'Denial of Service' attempt, which caused the portal to register 1.5 million hits within a mere two minutes, accompanied by over 100,000 unauthorized attempts to access files.

**16,000 Applications Successfully Completed**
CBSE announced that the portal launched for the re-evaluation of Class 12 answer sheets is currently capable of simultaneously supporting over 8,000 users, thereby allowing for the submission of that many applications concurrently. Furthermore, CBSE stated that as of 3:00 PM on June 2, more than 16,000 students had completed the application process for the re-evaluation of their Class 12 answer sheets.

**Our Team is Vigilant**
CBSE has stated that, based on student feedback, it has further improved the platform. This includes extending the time limit for sessions to ensure the process becomes even more convenient and user-friendly. Furthermore, CBSE affirmed that its teams remain fully vigilant and prepared to assist students in every possible way.

**The Portal Has Been Hacked Before**
The CBSE portal has been compromised by hackers in the past as well. The portal launched to facilitate the retrieval of scanned copies of CBSE Class 12 answer sheets was hacked by an unidentified individual, who subsequently demanded ₹8,000 from students for a scanned copy of a single subject—despite the official fee being fixed at ₹100 per subject. CBSE later acknowledged the hacking incident. Meanwhile, ethical hacker Nisarg has consistently maintained that the CBSE portal is susceptible to easy hacking. Consequently, concerns are being raised regarding the potential leakage of students' personal data.
