Thousands of students who performed exceptionally well in this year's JEE Main failed to secure 75 percent marks in their Class 12 board examinations. A significant number of students scored less than 75 percent, thereby failing to meet the prescribed eligibility criteria for admission to the IITs and various other central technical institutes. However, students need not be disheartened. There are several prestigious engineering institutes across the country where securing 75 percent marks in Class 12 is not a mandatory requirement for admission. Students can advance their careers by securing admission to these colleges based on their JEE Main scores.
Consequently, these students were rendered ineligible for admission to the IITs, NITs, and other central technical institutes. Many students have attributed their lower scores to the CBSE's new on-screen marking system. According to the regulations, students belonging to the General category are required to secure a minimum of 75 percent marks in Class 12 or rank within the top 20 percentile of their respective boards. For candidates belonging to the SC, ST, and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories, this threshold is set at 65 percent.
**No 75% Marks Mandate at These Institutes**
Students who scored less than 75 percent in their Class 12 examinations can still gain admission to several prestigious institutes based on their JEE Main scores. These include premier institutions such as IIIT Delhi, IIIT Hyderabad, and IIIT Bengaluru. Furthermore, admission opportunities remain available at several other prominent colleges, even for students with lower percentage scores.
IIIT Delhi: 70% marks required in Class 12
IIIT Hyderabad: Valid JEE Main score
IIIT Bangalore: Valid JEE Main score
DTU, Delhi
NSUT, Delhi
Thapar Institute, Patiala: Minimum 60% marks

Other Good Options Also Available
Additionally, institutions such as IGDTUW, HBTU Kanpur, MAIT Delhi, LNMIIT Jaipur, IET Lucknow, ICT Mumbai, SPIT Mumbai, PICT Pune, and UIT Chandigarh can also prove to be excellent choices for students.
