SRIPOKU.COM - The Chairman of Askot PSSI Palembang, Mohammad David, is firmly backing the England national team to rise and claim the 2026 World Cup title.

“We’re supporting the England team. We hope that in this 2026 World Cup, England can finally lift the trophy. It’s been far too long since the country last celebrated a World Cup victory parade,” said Mohammad David to Sripoku.com on Wednesday (3 June 2026).

Mohammad David, who is also the CEO of David FC, reminded that England has won the World Cup only once, back in 1966. In that historic tournament, England served as the host nation and defeated West Germany in the final with a 4-2 scoreline at Wembley Stadium.

“England is one of the favourites to win the World Cup due to the presence of coach Thomas Tuchel, who has introduced a more balanced tactical approach, an extraordinary defensive record marked by clean sheets throughout the qualification stage, and a squad filled with star players seasoned at the highest level,” added the Vice President of Sriwijaya FC.

There are at least three major reasons why the team known as The Three Lions is considered one of the top contenders:

1. The Tactical Brilliance of Thomas Tuchel

Coach Thomas Tuchel has brought significant changes by eliminating the overreliance on players with a “number 10” profile, which previously made England’s playstyle unbalanced. He now prefers players who offer greater flexibility. Tuchel also ensures harmony in the dressing room by leaving out individuals who might create issues when placed on the bench.

2. A Rock-Solid Defence

Under Tuchel’s management, England’s backline has transformed into an almost impenetrable wall. During the qualification phase leading up to the tournament, they achieved an impressive record by not conceding a single goal and maintaining clean sheets in every match.

3. A Star-Studded Squad
England’s roster is filled with players who consistently perform at the top level across Europe’s major leagues. The individual quality across all positions provides squad depth, allowing the coach to rotate or adjust tactics mid-game without sacrificing performance levels.
