Paris. ‘Banana’, one of the world’s most famous and unique artworks (Annoying Artworks), is in the headlines again these days. Italian artist Maurizio Catalan’s famous artwork ‘Comedian’ allegedly went missing from a museum in France, causing a stir. The museum administration has lodged a complaint with the police and investigation has been started.
The artwork is simple in appearance – a banana stuck to the wall with duct tape. But in the art world its value is estimated up to crores of rupees. This is why the news of its disappearance has surprised both art lovers and the administration.

According to media reports, during the exhibition in the museum, the staff noticed that the wall at the place where this artwork was installed was lying empty. After this the officials were informed and investigation into the security arrangements was started. The museum management immediately contacted the police and lodged an official complaint about the matter.
It is worth noting that the ‘comedian’ has been in the news many times before. This artwork has been the subject of debate in the art world due to its unique concept—some people consider it a symbol of modern art, while others call it just an ordinary banana. At present, the police is trying to find out whether the artwork was stolen or removed for some other reason.
