Shaheen Shah Afridi entered a record list in the PAK vs AUS second ODI. He joined the likes of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis. Pakistan’s ODI skipper dismissed Alex Carey on the first ball of the match. The Aussie batter tried to play a cut shot, but the ball hit the stumps after taking an inside edge of the bat. Afridi became the third Pakistan captain to take a wicket on the first ball in a fifty-over contest.

Earlier, Akram got rid of Zimbabwe’s Andy Flower in 1993, and Waqar Younis dismissed England’s Marcus Trescothick in 2001.

Australia were restricted to 231 for 9 in 50 overs, with Josh Inglis (51), Cameron Green (53), Matt Renshaw (43) and Oliver Peake (31) making important contributions.

Overall, Afridi took three wickets while Haris Rauf, Arafat Minhas and Abrar Ahmed picked up two scalps each.

Pakistan were 143 for 7 at the time of writing the news.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first against Australia in the second one-day international on Tuesday.

Pakistan leads the three-match series 1-0 after it won the opening game by five wickets at Rawalpindi, where left-arm spinner Arafat Minhas took 5-32 on his ODI debut.

The home team was unchanged, which meant spinners were expected to dominate at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, which also hosts the third game on Thursday.

Depleted Australia has gone with three specialist spinners, including Adam Zampa, who has recovered from the neck spasms which forced him to miss the first ODI. Zampa replaced fast bowler Billy Stanlake.
