The political temperature has already started rising in Uttar Pradesh regarding the assembly elections to be held next year. The game of check-mate has started behind the scenes regarding seat sharing in the alliance of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD). This time Jayant Choudhary’s party RLD has put a long list in front of BJP. According to sources, RLD has demanded 35 seats for the upcoming elections, which also includes the seats of Moradabad division. However, according to the news coming from inside, BJP is in no mood to give much importance to RLD in Moradabad division.
Actually, there is an internal tussle between the two parties regarding the politics of Moradabad division. RLD has staked its claim on the seats of this entire division, but BJP is preparing to give it only one seat in this area. It is being told that BJP can give only ‘Naugawan Sadat’ seat of Amroha district to RLD’s account in Moradabad division.
RLD’s own argument on Muslim dominated seats
RLD has its own mathematics regarding seat distribution. Party strategists argue that the number of Muslim voters is very high in the districts falling under Moradabad division. Amidst such equations, it proves to be very challenging for BJP to feed the lotus directly here. RLD believes that if Jat-Muslim-Farmer alliance candidates are fielded on these seats, then the opposition alliance can be given a tough competition. For this reason, Jayant Chaudhary’s party has strengthened its claim on this entire belt.
Why doesn’t BJP want to come on backfoot?
On the other hand, BJP’s thinking is completely different from RLD. In fact, even though BJP had to face defeat on many seats in Moradabad division in the last elections, the party believes that its organizational structure is very strong in this entire area. BJP leaders associated with Ground Zero say that the party candidates had lost by a very small margin. In such a situation, due to its strong hold on the ground, BJP is not ready to give up its won or strong seats easily to its allies.
Why agreement only on Naugawan Sadat seat?
Now the question arises that why does consensus seem to be emerging only on Naugawan Sadat seat? According to political analysts, the political mood of Naugawan Sadat seat of Amroha has been slightly different. If we look at the by-elections and previous equations here, the alliance can get the benefit of the vote bank under the influence of RLD. BJP wants to preserve its strong seats in the entire division by handing over this one seat to RLD.
At present, this is the initial discussion regarding the seats and in the coming days, as the elections approach, it will be finalized only after the meetings between Amit Shah and Jayant Chaudhary. But it is clear that the market of discussions has heated up in the politics of UP regarding this only seat of Moradabad division.
