SIANTAR – The Head of the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Service Office (DPMPTSP) of Pematangsiantar City, M. Hamam Sholeh, has expressed his support for the French and Dutch national teams in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to Sholeh, both Western European nations remain too strong for many of their rivals.
Sholeh admitted that he has long been a fan of Les Bleus and The Oranje. He believes that since their World Cup triumph in 2018, the strength of the French national team has not faded.
“The French national team is still very strong. The golden generation from the 2018 World Cup continues to endure through to the 2026 edition. New young talents keep emerging, which is why I still consider France the top favourite to win,” said Sholeh.
“Meanwhile, the Netherlands should not be underestimated either. Although they do not yet have a history of winning the World Cup, their current squad is filled with top European players,” Sholeh added.
Sholeh is confident that both national teams have the potential to meet in the final round. In addition to those two, he also believes that Argentina has a solid chance to defend their title in the prestigious four-year football tournament.
“Argentina also remains a strong contender for the championship. Many of their players are part of elite European clubs,” concluded the former Head of the Tourism, Youth, and Sports Department.
