The Saudi Pro League (SPL) has officially unveiled the full schedule for the 2026-27 Roshn Saudi League, detailing the key dates and the provisional plan for all 34 rounds of fixtures.

The upcoming season is set to kick off on August 13, 2026, and will wrap up on May 29, 2027. The competition will be played in parallel with a tightly packed calendar of international, continental, and domestic events, all of which have had a significant impact on fixture arrangements and rest periods throughout the campaign.

According to the SPL, the calendar includes around 80 days earmarked for international breaks and national team duties, while also accounting for Saudi Arabia’s role as host of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.

Throughout the season, there are 103 available matchdays to accommodate the 34 rounds of league play, totalling 306 matches. The SPL has emphasised that this extensive schedule required meticulous planning to ensure competitive fairness, smooth operations, and sufficient recovery time for clubs, especially during phases that coincide with continental competitions.

Based on the provisional plan, the league will conduct four rounds each in August, September, and October, followed by three rounds in both November and December before a break in January. The action will resume with three rounds in February, two in March, six in April, and five in May.

Out of the 34 rounds, 25 will be held on weekends, four will span both weekends and weekdays, and five will be played exclusively during midweek. This distribution reflects the growing demands of an increasingly crowded football calendar.

The scheduling complexities are further intensified by the participation of seven Saudi clubs in four different international tournaments, particularly toward the latter stages of the season when league matches overlap with decisive phases of continental and major competitions.

By collaborating closely with clubs and key stakeholders, the SPL has aimed to achieve an optimal balance between accommodating multiple competitive commitments and maintaining a consistent, engaging domestic league season.

This strategy is intended to enhance the continued growth of the league and improve the overall fan experience, while making the most efficient use of the limited number of available matchdays.

The SPL highlighted that the 2026-27 fixture list reflects the unique nature of the upcoming football season in Saudi Arabia, with fixtures distributed to ensure the best possible alignment between sporting and operational priorities.
