New Delhi: IPL 2026 was nothing special for Chennai Super Kings. The 5-time champion team could win only 6 out of 14 matches in the league stage. With 12 points, CSK remained at number 8 in the points table. However, now good news has come for CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. He has got a place in India A team.

Riyan Parag injured, Ruturaj gets a chance   

BCCI gave this information just before the IPL 2026 final. The Men’s Selection Committee has included Ruturaj Gaikwad in the India A team for the tri-series to be held in Sri Lanka. He has come to the team in place of vice-captain Riyan Parag. Ryan is out of the entire series due to a hamstring injury. BCCI Center of Excellence will now work on his rehabilitation.

Tilak Verma will captain   

In this tri-series, the command of India A team will be in the hands of Tilak Verma. Ruturaj Gaikwad has been made the vice captain. The team includes Priyansh Arya, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Ayush Badoni, Nishant Sindhu, Suryansh Shedge, Prabhsimran Singh, Kumar Kushagra, Vipraj Nigam, Yash Thakur, Yudhveer Singh, Anshul Kamboj, Arshad Khan and Anukul Roy.

This tri-series will be played in Sri Lanka. Teams of India A, Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A will participate in it. India A’s first match will be against Sri Lanka A on June 9. India A will face Afghanistan A on June 11. There is a match again against Sri Lanka A on 15th June and against Afghanistan A on 17th June. The final match will be played on June 21.

How was Ruturaj’s performance in IPL 2026?   

Ruturaj Gaikwad’s bat did not do much in the 19th season of IPL. He scored 337 runs in 14 innings of 14 matches at an average of 28.08. During this period his strike rate was 123.44. Ruturaj scored only 2 half-centuries in the entire season.

His unbeaten 74 runs were his best score this season. Despite the poor performance of the team, the selectors have expressed confidence in him. Now all eyes will be on how Ruturaj capitalizes on this opportunity and how he performs for India A.
