Earlier, under the leadership of captain Rajat Patidar, RCB had won the trophy for the first time by defeating Punjab Kings in the final of IPL 2025 last year. This victory was special for Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Rajat Patidar. Now he has come third in the list of captains who have captured the IPL title twice consecutively. Before this, Mahendra Singh Dhoni for Chennai Super Kings and Rohit Sharma for Mumbai Indians have won the IPL trophy twice in a row under their captaincy.
