After the BJP’s heavy defeat in the assembly elections, discussions have started in the political circles of Tamil Nadu that Anna Malai may soon leave the BJP and form her new political party. These discussions have created excitement in politics.

 

Supporters started sharing the name of the party

For the past few days, these discussions have been going on continuously in the state. But significantly, Annamalai’s supporters have started sharing possible party names and even flag designs on social media. Some supporters have also claimed that a major announcement about the new party could be made in June.

Meanwhile, some of Annamalai’s recent statements have also fueled these speculations. He had publicly criticized CBSE’s decision to implement the tri-language policy from Class IX. Not only this, he did not post anything about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program on Sunday, adding to the buzz.

 

Annamalai upset in alliance

According to media reports, Annamalai was unhappy with the decision of a re-alliance between the BJP and the AIADMK for the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections. Later he supported the party leadership and actively campaigned for the NDA.

Annamalai, a former IPS officer, joined the Tamil Nadu BJP in July 2021 at the age of 37, becoming one of the youngest state presidents. He will remain the state president of BJP till 2025. After the collapse of the BJP’s alliance with the AIADMK, he was frequently critical of the party’s leadership, leading to discussions about his stance on the alliance’s comeback.

BJP rejected these speculations

A senior BJP leader dismissed the speculation and said the party has no information that Annamalai is leaving the BJP or preparing to form a new party. According to party sources, he may soon be given national-level responsibility in the organisation.
