New Delhi: India Meteorological Department has released the latest weather update for June 2. There will be rain and strong winds in most parts of the country on Tuesday, June 01, 2026. Light to moderate rain will occur over North-West India due to western disturbance and upper air cyclone. During this time, winds will blow at a speed of 40 to 50 km per hour and there is also a possibility of lightning.
Condition of North India including Delhi-NCR
There may be light rain in Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan between afternoon and evening. There is also a possibility of dust storm and strong winds of 40 to 60 km per hour. The temperature may increase by 2 to 3 degrees, but clouds and rain will provide some relief from the heat.
Warning of heavy rain in Northeast and Eastern India
Light to moderate rain will occur over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Heavy rain may also occur at some places. There will be rain and thundershowers in Sikkim and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal also. There will be rain in Odisha, Jharkhand and Bihar with winds of 40 to 50 km per hour. An alert of storm speed of 50 to 70 km per hour has been issued in Odisha. There is a possibility of heat wave starting in Bihar from June 3.
Monsoon becomes active in South India
Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will receive light to moderate rain on June 2. Strong winds of 50 to 70 kmph will prevail over Rayalaseema, Interior Karnataka and Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Heavy to very heavy rain may occur in some areas. This may increase the problem of floods and waterlogging.
Weather in Central and West India
There are chances of light to moderate rain in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Goa. Hail may fall in West Madhya Pradesh. Strong winds will blow in Gujarat and Maharashtra. The temperature will gradually decrease, but humidity will remain at some places.
IMD’s advice and warnings
According to the Meteorological Department, monsoon activity will increase from June 2. This will benefit the farmers, but heavy rain, storm and hailstorm may also cause damage to the crop. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea. There is an appeal to people to stay indoors during thunderstorms and be careful in the fields. IMD is keeping an eye on the situation and will continue to issue necessary alerts.
