Lucknow, June 1. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has written a letter giving the message of environmental protection. In this letter, he has emphasized on the importance of environment and its conservation. CM Yogi wrote in his letter, “There has been a tradition of worshiping trees, mountains, rivers and animals in Sanatan culture. In the Vedas, worship of nature has been considered as the worship of God. Various elements of nature like fire, air, water and earth have been considered as gods. The occasion of World Environment Day on June 5 should not be an annual formality but a memorandum of our common gratitude towards nature.”
Sanatan’s relation with nature
He wrote in his letter, “In the three debts mentioned in the Sanatan tradition – Dev Debn, Rishi Debn and Pitra Debn – Dev Debn is directly to nature. Conservation of water, forest, land and the entire creation is the way to repay this debt. In our culture, trees are not just natural resources, but are living symbols of divinity, life, knowledge, health and public welfare. Just a few days ago, lakhs of mothers and sisters had observed Vat Savitri Vrat. This shows the deep relationship of our culture with nature. It shows that great festivals like Chhath and Mahakumbh are symbols of this abstract faith.”
‘We cannot live without water’
CM Yogi further wrote, “Today, the resolution of trees, water conservation and revitalization of rivers is more important than ever. ‘If we have water, we are’ – this is not just a sentence, but the essence of life. It is a proof of our sensitivity towards ecology that the number of Ramsar sites in Uttar Pradesh has increased to 12 with the inclusion of Shekha Lake Bird Sanctuary. The success of the state government’s ‘One District One River Scheme’ for the revival of rivers shows that if the society and the government make joint efforts. If we do so, nature can be preserved.”
CM Yogi’s appeal to the youth
Appealing especially to the youth, CM Yogi said, “I especially want to tell the youth of the state that they should become a strong base for water conservation, cleanliness, tree plantation and conservation of rivers. Youth energy and participation is the biggest strength of green and prosperous Uttar Pradesh. Dear children, I would like to say one thing to you too. Every year on your birthday or on any special occasion, do plant a sapling and take care of it. Come, on World Environment Day, let us all work for the conservation of nature, promotion of water sources and trees. Take a pledge to protect, safe, clean and prosperous environment is the basis of a developed state.
