Why Marcus Rashford is Training at Inter Miami: England Star Utilises Lionel Messi’s Facilities Amid Transfer Speculation

Marcus Rashford has shifted his World Cup preparations to the United States, making use of Inter Miami’s world-class training setup ahead of the global tournament. The England forward is taking an early lead on his teammates by adapting to Florida’s warm and humid conditions, following detailed instructions from Three Lions manager Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel’s American acclimatisation strategy

The Manchester United striker arrived in the US ahead of schedule after Tuchel advised his 26-man squad to spend their holidays within American time zones before the World Cup begins.

Several England players are believed to have spent the off-season either in the United States or the Caribbean. Tuchel has emphasised the importance of familiarising themselves with the weather conditions expected during the tournament.

Climate is predicted to play a crucial role, with research indicating that nearly 25% of all World Cup fixtures could be played in temperatures above 26°C. By basing himself in Florida, Rashford is ensuring he builds up his endurance for the humidity, using Miami – a hub for elite football preparation – as the setting for his intensive solo sessions.

Private sessions and Manchester United links

Rashford travelled to Florida and has been training at David Beckham’s Inter Miami facility under the guidance of a personal coach. During a shooting practice session, a coach wearing Manchester United training gear was seen assisting him, suggesting the forward continues to maintain strong links with his parent club despite his loan spell in Spain.

Since his breakthrough in 2016, Rashford has worked closely with United coach Colin Little. A former non-league striker, Little is currently an assistant to Darren Fletcher for Manchester United’s Under-18 side, and he has long been instrumental in helping Rashford refine his finishing skills.

Transfer situation remains uncertain

While Rashford concentrates on his fitness, speculation about his club future continues. The forward spent last season on loan at Barcelona, where sporting director Deco recently praised his professionalism and ability to adapt to Hansi Flick’s tactical approach. However, financial constraints at the Catalan club are making it difficult to complete a permanent deal.

Barcelona are reportedly attempting to restructure Rashford’s £26 million purchase option, even after spending £70 million on former Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon. This hesitation has reportedly caught the attention of Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta believed to be eager to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the new campaign.

England’s preparation schedule

Most of the England squad flew to Miami on Monday for a pre-tournament camp and two friendly matches against New Zealand and Costa Rica. The team’s base for the World Cup will be in Kansas City, Missouri, which is six hours behind UK time. England’s opening group fixture against Croatia is scheduled for 17 June in Dallas, also six hours behind British Summer Time.

The remaining Group L matches, against Ghana and Panama in Boston and New Jersey respectively, will be played in time zones five hours behind the UK. European finalists Declan Rice, Noni Madueke, Eberechi Eze, Bukayo Saka, and goalkeeper Dean Henderson are expected to link up with the rest of the squad later as England fine-tune their preparations for the tournament.
