IPS Ananya Awasthi becomes Odisha’s first woman police ADC, Governor hands over important responsibility

Bhubaneswar, June 1. A new chapter has been added in the administrative history of Odisha. IPS officer Ananya Awasthi has been appointed Police Aide-de-Camp or ADC to Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati. With this, she has become the first woman police officer of Odisha to be entrusted with the prestigious post of Police ADC to the Governor. Ananya Awasthi was welcomed by Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati during a formal function held at Lok Bhawan.

Senior officials of the Governor’s Secretariat were also present on this occasion. He was officially handed over the new responsibility at the ceremony. Ananya Awasthi was earlier serving as Assistant Commissioner of Police in Cuttack. Now he has got the opportunity to play an important role in the Governor’s office. Her appointment is being considered an important achievement towards women leadership and women empowerment.

The post of ADC to the Governor is very respectable and full of responsibility. The ADC assists the Governor in his official functions, government meetings, ceremonies and various protocol functions. ADC also plays an important role in the security of the Governor, coordination of programs and administrative arrangements.

Kuldeep Meena’s place was taken

Ananya Awasthi has replaced IPS officer Kuldeep Meena on this post, who was earlier serving as Police ADC to the Governor. With her appointment, for the first time in Odisha, a woman officer has assumed the responsibility of this post.

Two ADCs are appointed to assist the Governor of Odisha. Of these, one officer is from Odisha Police and the other is from the Indian Navy. Ananya Awasthi will take up her duties as Police ADC, while Lieutenant Harshit Dev of the Indian Navy will continue to serve as Naval ADC to the Governor.
