New Delhi: France has banned Israel’s entry into the Eurosatory Defense Exhibition to be held in Paris this month. The Israeli Defense Ministry said that French officials have refused Israeli government representatives to participate in this major defense program. Also, Israel has not been allowed to build its own national pavilion.

Exemption to show only air defense system

According to the ministry, Israeli defense companies will now be able to display only air defense systems. Offensive weapons and other military equipment will not be allowed to be brought to the exhibition site. This decision may further increase the already ongoing tension between Paris and Jerusalem.

In fact, a few days ago France had banned Israeli Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir from entering French territory. He promoted a video in which he was making fun of the workers of the Gaza-bound fleet. Those activists were detained by Israeli security forces, tied and made to kneel.

Israel said the decision was discriminatory

Israel’s Defense Ministry has strongly condemned this move of France. The ministry described it as politically motivated and discriminatory. According to The Times of Israel, the ministry said it "shameful decision" which is "political and business accounts" Taken from.

Israeli officials say such restrictions have not been imposed on other countries taking part in the program. The ministry alleged that France was violating international standards on defense exhibitions and deliberately targeting Israel.

The ministry also rejected France’s argument of distinguishing between offensive and defensive weapons. She said France was acting against the principles it professes. Israel says its offensive systems have proven effective against terrorist organizations that pose a threat to the entire region.

Controversy has happened before too

Tension between France and Israel has been increasing for the past several months. In April, Israel had announced to stop all defense purchases from France. Israel alleged that France’s actions had harmed its security interests.

Jerusalem also said France had prevented Israeli aircraft from using its airspace during the conflict involving Iran. This is not the first controversy regarding Eurosatory. Even in 2024, France had earlier stopped Israeli companies, but later changed the decision.

Even at the 2025 Paris Air Show, black walls were erected around the stalls of Israeli companies where offensive weapons were kept. Eurosatory is the world’s largest defense and security show held every two years in Paris. Here countries showcase their military technology and big defense deals take place.
