Importance of Neem water for Tulsi plant

The Tulsi plant, which holds special significance in Hinduism and is considered rich in medicinal properties, is found in almost every Indian household. However, many people complain that despite proper care, the basil plant dries up or its leaves turn yellow. To solve this problem, horticulture experts have suggested a cheap and natural solution. According to experts, Neem water is a safe option to revive Tulsi and protect it from insects, which is better than toxic pesticides available in the market.

Neem water: Sanjeevani for Tulsi

Neem is considered to be an effective natural anti-fungal and insecticide. Its leaves and bark contain elements that drive away insects that harm plants. Basil is often attacked by white mealybugs, which suck the juice of the plant. Neem water acts as a protective shield on it. Since basil leaves are used in tea and decoction, use of chemical pesticides can be harmful to health.

Method of making neem water

It is very easy to make neem spray for basil. For this, take 15 to 20 fresh neem leaves and soak them in one liter of water overnight. Boil this water lightly in the morning and when it cools down, filter it and fill it in a spray bottle. Sprinkle this solution on basil leaves and twigs. Apart from this, also add it to the basil root soil. Doing this process two to three times a month improves the health of the plant.

precautions

Some people think that Neem water is completely natural, so adding it daily will make the plant grow faster. But horticulturists consider this wrong. Neem water is only a protectant, which protects the plant from diseases. Adding neem solution in large quantities can affect the pH level of the soil. So always use a mild solution and keep an eye on the plant’s leaves.

balance of sunlight and water

Just adding Neem water will not keep the Tulsi plant healthy. For this, management of right amount of sunlight and water is also necessary. Tulsi should get 4 to 6 hours of direct sunlight daily. While watering, take care that mud does not form in the soil. From time to time, lightly hoe the soil so that oxygen can reach the roots.
