Senne Lammens made his move to Old Trafford from Royal Antwerp last summer, a period when Manchester United were also being linked with Emiliano Martinez.
The Premier League introduced the Transfer of the Season award for the first time this campaign, recognising the most impactful signing by any club in the league.
Lammens edged out strong contenders including Viktor Gyokeres, Rayan Cherki, Antoine Semenyo, Joao Pedro, Granit Xhaka, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and Adrien Truffert to secure the accolade.
Although high-profile arrivals such as Benjamin Sesko initially captured the headlines for United, it was Lammens who quietly emerged as their most influential acquisition of the season.
The Belgian goalkeeper made an immediate impression on his debut against Sunderland, registering a clean sheet in a 2-0 triumph.
Across his 32 Premier League appearances, during which United suffered only four defeats, the ‘brilliant’ Lammens maintained an average of 2.5 saves per match with a 67 percent success rate.
His consistent performances between the posts provided a dependable defensive foundation as United clinched a third-place finish and secured qualification for the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League.
Lammens was twice nominated for the Save of the Month award, with his spectacular acrobatic stop against Arsenal in January standing out as one of the season’s highlights.
His commanding displays earned him a senior international debut for Belgium in November, and he is now set to be part of their squad for this summer’s FIFA World Cup.
Costing Manchester United just £18.1 million, Lammens has proven to be an outstanding bargain and one of the Premier League’s smartest pieces of business this season.
