Comprehensive discussion on “Next Generation Agriculture for a Developed India @2047: Integrating Digital and Climate Smart Innovations”

Lucknow. Horticulture Agriculture Research Committee, Lucknow organized an international seminar on “Next Generation Agriculture for Developed India @2047: Integration of Digital and Climate Smart Innovations” at Hotel Bandhan on Sunday. In this, agricultural scientists, policy makers, academicians and experts from India and abroad had a comprehensive discussion on the future of the agriculture sector.

Speakers in the seminar said that agriculture sector will play an important role in the goal of making India a developed nation by the year 2047. This requires the adoption of digital technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), drones, Internet of Things (IoT), big data and climate-smart agricultural practices.

Experts stressed that the need of the hour is to connect farmers with modern technologies in the changing climate scenario. To mitigate the effects of climate change, emphasis was laid on water conservation, precise irrigation, weather-based agricultural advisories and promotion of technologies that provide more production with less resources.

In the seminar, experts from different countries shared their experiences and said that digital agriculture and innovation based farming can help in increasing production, reducing costs and increasing the income of farmers. Also, the agricultural sector can be made more sustainable and environment-friendly.

Speakers said that through agricultural research, technological innovation and effective dissemination of knowledge to farmers, India can move towards global agricultural leadership while strengthening food security. Various technical sessions on emerging technologies in agriculture sector, challenges of climate change and their solutions were also organized during the programme. The seminar concluded that coordination of digital and climate-smart innovations will play an important role in realizing the goal of Developed India @2047.

During the seminar, emphasis was laid on digital agriculture and AI based technologies. Along with this, promoting smart farming to deal with climate change and increasing farmers’ income and improving productivity were discussed. The need to develop sustainable and environment-friendly agricultural models was also stressed.

Dr. Inder Kumar Chaurasia, Convenor/Director Horticulture Research Committee, retired IAS Arvind Kumar Chaurasia, Dr. Prateek Ranjan Chaurasia and other respected dignitaries were present in the said program. At the end of the seminar, Dr. Indra Kumar Chaurasia, Chairman of Horticulture and Agricultural Research, thanked the guests.
