Manchester City defender Josko Gvardiol has spoken about his future at the Etihad Stadium following the exit of manager Pep Guardiola.

Amid growing speculation linking him with a move away from Manchester, the 24-year-old Croatian sought to reassure fans about his current contentment with life at the club.

“We’ve all seen plenty of rumours from different sources. I’m happy at Man City, I have everything I need,” Gvardiol said.

However, it was his final remark about what comes next that left supporters uneasy about his long-term intentions.

“Before the injury, I played every match, almost full minutes. After the World Cup, we’ll see,” he added.

That particular statement has raised doubts over his future, especially given the period of transition currently taking place within the club structure.

Legendary manager Pep Guardiola has officially ended his trophy-filled 10-year spell with Manchester City, leaving the club with the challenge of finding a new leader to guide them into the next phase.

Since joining Manchester City in 2023, Gvardiol has made 122 appearances for the club. However, his momentum was severely interrupted during the 2025/26 season.

A major mid-season injury restricted him to just 18 Premier League appearances and 25 total games across all competitions during Guardiola’s final campaign in charge.

While the versatile defender insists that his immediate priority is regaining his pre-injury form, his reluctance to commit to City beyond the upcoming World Cup indicates that the club’s next managerial appointment could play a significant role in determining his path.

For a team already preparing for life after Guardiola, losing one of Europe’s most highly rated defenders would be a major setback for the incoming manager.

Gvardiol remains under contract with Manchester City until the summer of 2028.
