DK Shivakumar, who is going to become the new Chief Minister of Karnataka, said that the IPL final was to be held in Bangalore, but it did not happen. This is injustice to us. We are trying to do everything so that this does not happen again. On behalf of Karnataka, I congratulate our team on becoming champions.

In the final match of IPL played on Sunday at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad, RCB defeated Gujarat Titans by five wickets and captured the IPL trophy for the second consecutive time. With this, RCB has now become only the third team after Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians to defend its IPL trophy.

Let us tell you that there was a time when Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were called ‘Chokers’. The team had to wait for 17 years to win its first IPL title. But now the story has changed. Royal Challengers Bangalore has won the second consecutive trophy. Narendra Modi Stadium, the world’s largest cricket ground, witnessed this historic moment when on the night of May 31, RCB defeated Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2026 final to win the trophy for the second consecutive time and became only the third team to defend its title. Before this, only Chennai Super Kings (2010 and 2011) and Mumbai Indians (2019-2020) have been able to do this.
