PM Narendra Modi: Both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organization and the Union Cabinet are now expected to undergo major unexpected changes. A high-level meeting of senior party leaders was held at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence on Thursday. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Party President J.P. Nadda, Rajnath Singh and National General Secretary B.L. Santosh was also present.

It is reported that the meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah lasted for approximately four hours. According to sources, strengthening the party organization was the main agenda. However, there is talk in political circles that Prime Minister Modi will expand and reshuffle the Union Cabinet by next Sunday.

Rajya Sabha Elections

Apart from this, elections to 24 Rajya Sabha seats in 10 states were also an important agenda in this meeting. By-elections to two constituencies in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu were also discussed and the strategy for these by-elections was decided.

Even before this high-level meeting, a series of meetings of senior BJP leaders was going on. Earlier, Amit Shah, J.P. Nadda and party general secretary B.L. Santosh also held many meetings. The talks are believed to focus mainly on possible organizational changes in preparation for the upcoming assembly elections in Telangana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram later this year. As a result, these developments have fueled speculation that a major cabinet reshuffle may soon take place in the party.

Important organizational discussions

Assembly elections will be held in five states by the end of this year. Moreover, after these assembly elections, the Lok Sabha elections are also around the corner. In this background, Amit Shah and J.P. Nadda discussed in detail the strategies for strengthening the party organization at the Prime Minister’s residence. After returning from Chhattisgarh tour, Amit Shah immediately reached the Prime Minister’s residence.

Why is this BJP meeting considered important?

According to reports, the meeting also agreed to empower the National President and the respective state units to select candidates for the Legislative Council elections. Politically, this meeting is considered important. This is because BJP’s Central Election Committee is not usually called to select Rajya Sabha candidates. After the Central Election Committee meeting, a separate meeting of senior BJP leaders was held with Prime Minister Modi. This meeting was attended by Nitin Naveen, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh and B.L. Santosh was present. Organizational preparations were reviewed and appointments at national and state levels were discussed. The ongoing process of organizational restructuring within the party is also said to have been discussed.
