New Delhi: JEE Advanced 2026 has found its All India Rank 1 topper in Shubham Kumar from the IIT Delhi zone. The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee announced the results on June 1, 2026, and Shubham topped the exam with 330 marks out of 360.
Shubham, a resident of Bihar, has long wanted to study at an IIT and build a career in computer science. His father, Shivkumar, is a businessman, and his mother, Kanchan Devi, is a homemaker. For many students, this story will feel very familiar. A big target, long study hours, mock tests, mistakes, corrections and one dream college sitting quietly in the mind.
Meet Shubham Kumar, JEE Advanced 2026 AIR 1 topperShubham Kumar belongs to the IIT Delhi zone and now hopes to pursue B Tech in Computer Science from IIT Bombay. He had also performed strongly in JEE Main 2026, where he secured AIR 6.
His academic record has been steady too. He scored 98.5 per cent in Class 10 and kept working toward his IIT goal with a clear plan.
Shubham believes that conceptual understanding is the key factor in an exam likeJEE Advanced. His focus was not just on memorising formulas. He worked on understanding the subject properly and then applying it during tests.
Mock tests, mistakes and long study hoursShubham’s preparation method was simple, but strict. He studied for 6 to 8 hours daily and spent time improving his weaker subjects. After every mock test, he analysed his performance, checked where he had gone wrong and worked on correcting those mistakes.
He regularly re-attempted questions that he had answered incorrectly. He also asked teachers for help whenever he got stuck. This regular cycle of testing, checking and correcting helped him improve his exam strategy over time.
That “keep trying until you succeed” mindset seems to have worked well for him. It is not very filmi, but it is probably the most real part of this story.
