What is allergy to flowers?
Allergy caused by flowers is usually called allergic rhinitis or hay fever, especially when its effect is visible on the nose and eyes. It can also be called Pollen Allergy.
Pollen allergy is caused by pollen released by plants, trees, grass and weeds. Pollen is a fine powder-like particle, which plants release for their reproduction process. These particles spread easily in the air and can appear as yellow fine dust on surfaces. These small particles can reach the nose, eyes and lungs and cause allergic reactions.
If a person has a pollen allergy, his immune system considers pollen as a dangerous substance. In response, the body releases chemicals like histamine, which triggers an allergic reaction. Due to this allergy, symptoms like sneezing, blocked nose and swelling in the eyes may appear. However, this allergy can be controlled with the help of medicines.
What are the symptoms of pollen allergy?
- runny nose
- nasal congestion or stuffiness
- frequent sneezing
- swelling around the eyes
- redness or watering of eyes
- itching in the throat, eyes, or nose
- cough or sore throat
- Increased asthma symptoms in allergic asthma patients
- loss of ability to smell and taste
Why does this allergy occur?
According to experts, pollen allergy occurs when the body’s immune system considers the pollen released from flowers to be a dangerous substance. Due to this, the body releases chemicals like histamine to eliminate them, due to which allergic reaction starts and various symptoms start appearing in the person.
