Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has defeated Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets in the final match of IPL. In this match played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat, Gujarat Titans, batting first, scored 156 runs, which RCB achieved very easily. After this spectacular victory of RCB, while the fans are jumping with joy, on the other hand a big controversy has also started over it. The new Chief Minister of Karnataka DK Shivakumar has given a big statement regarding the venue of this match. He said that this final match should have been held in Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru but due to politics it was moved to Gujarat which is a complete injustice to the fans of RCB. Amidst this big controversy, RCB has won the IPL trophy for the second consecutive time.
Karnataka’s new Chief Minister DK Shivakumar is going to take oath as Chief Minister on June 3. He congratulated the RCB team on the victory but also expressed his displeasure about the match ground. Shivakumar said, ‘RCB’s match should have been held in Bengaluru, wrong has happened to us. They took it there because of politics. Now I will not say much on this. He further said that if this match had taken place in Bengaluru city, this moment would have been even bigger and historic for the fans there. Shivakumar wrote a post on the social media platform praising the entire team, players, coach and support staff and wished everyone the best from the entire state of Karnataka.
Virat Kohli’s innings
In this final match, RCB’s star batsman Virat Kohli scored the fastest half-century of his IPL career in just 25 balls. Kohli played 42 balls in this match and scored 75 runs while remaining unbeaten with 9 fours and 3 sixes. This is Virat Kohli’s highest score in the history of IPL playoffs. Since the year 2025, this record remains that whenever Virat Kohli scores a half-century, RCB never loses any match. In this match, Kohli also got support from Venkatesh Iyer from the other side who played an inning of 32 runs. RCB won its first trophy on Ahmedabad ground in the year 2025 and has now won its second consecutive title in 2026.
Gujarat Titans defeat
Gujarat Titans, who won their first IPL title in the year 2022, lost this time on their own home ground. Players’ fatigue and poor scheduling were the major reasons behind Gujarat’s defeat. Gujarat Titans team was playing its third match in the last 6 days and that too in three different cities, due to bad weather they were troubled a lot and were able to reach Ahmedabad only on Saturday night to play the final. Due to the pressure of continuous matches, Gujarat team could not perform well on the field.
