TANJUNGBALAI – The World Cup often sparks nostalgia among football fans, and many parents name their children after iconic players to commemorate special moments in football history.

One such story comes from the Head of Intelligence at the Tanjungbalai District Prosecutor’s Office, whose name was inspired by one of West Germany’s most prolific and influential strikers.

His name is Juergen Klinsmann — the legendary player who helped West Germany win the 1990 World Cup in Italy.

However, the name of the Tanjungbalai prosecutor’s intelligence chief was chosen when his father was watching a crucial match between Germany and Bolivia during the 1994 World Cup in the United States.

The Group C opening match saw Germany face Bolivia. Bolivia put up a strong performance, holding Germany to a goalless draw in the first half.

In the 61st minute, Juergen Klinsmann scored the only goal of the match, securing a full three points for Germany.

Coincidentally, this decisive moment happened at the same time the current Intelligence Chief of the Tanjungbalai District Prosecutor’s Office was born.

As a result, his father decided to name him Juergen Klinsmann to immortalize that unforgettable football moment.

“A bit of history behind my name — my father was a big football fan. When I was born, it happened to coincide with the match between Germany and Bolivia in 1994,” said Juergen Klinsmann Panjaitan, Head of Intelligence at the Tanjungbalai District Prosecutor’s Office, on Monday (1 June 2026).

The decisive goal scored by Juergen Klinsmann in the 61st minute matched the timing of his birth.

“So, when I was born, Juergen Klinsmann, the German striker, scored the only goal of that match against Bolivia. My parents immediately decided to give me his name,” Juergen explained.

Today, Juergen Klinsmann Panjaitan continues to hold a deep affection for the German national team and remains a loyal supporter as Germany competes in the 2026 World Cup.

“Since the tournament is again being held in the United States, just like in 1994, I’ll naturally keep supporting Germany to become the champions this year. I feel a special connection because my name comes from one of their legends,” he said.

He also predicted that Jamal Musiala could emerge as one of Germany’s standout performers and possibly the top scorer of the tournament. He hopes Musiala’s brilliance can lead Germany to lift the World Cup trophy once again.

“I think the current German squad is very balanced, and their player quality is strong. I’m confident Germany can win the title,” he added.

Nevertheless, he also expressed hope that Indonesia’s national football team could one day qualify for the grand tournament.

“It’s our shared dream that Indonesia’s national team will someday take part in the World Cup. Four years from now, I believe we can be one of the teams competing in this global football event,” he concluded.
