A fresh political controversy has erupted in Bihar after Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Council and senior RJD leader Rabri Devi was reportedly given a 15-day ultimatum to vacate her official residence at 10 Circular Road in Patna. The development triggered a sharp response from Janshakti Janta Dal founder Tej Pratap Yadav, who questioned the continued occupancy of official accommodation by former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Speaking to reporters in Patna, Tej Pratap Yadav said, “The residence of former CM Nitish Kumar should be vacated first. When he does, she will also vacate.” His remarks have added a new political dimension to the ongoing dispute over government accommodation and entitlement in the state.

The controversy revolves around the iconic 10 Circular Road residence, which has long been associated with the family of former Chief Minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav. Rabri Devi, who served as Bihar Chief Minister and currently serves as Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, has continued to occupy the residence, which remains one of the most politically significant addresses in Bihar.

The reported notice asking Rabri Devi to vacate the premises comes amid heightened political activity ahead of upcoming electoral battles in the state. Opposition leaders have alleged that the move is politically motivated, while government representatives maintain that allotment rules and administrative procedures are being followed.

Tej Pratap Yadav’s response has shifted attention toward Nitish Kumar’s official accommodation, reigniting a long-standing debate over government residences occupied by current and former political leaders. His statement appeared aimed at highlighting what the opposition views as selective enforcement of housing norms.

The residence issue has periodically surfaced in Bihar politics, with various parties accusing rivals of misusing government facilities. However, the latest exchange has gained particular significance because it involves two of the state’s most influential political families and comes at a time when political alliances and electoral strategies are under intense scrutiny.

Neither Rabri Devi nor the Bihar government had issued a detailed statement on the latest remarks at the time of reporting. Political observers note that the dispute is likely to fuel further confrontation between the ruling NDA and the opposition RJD-led bloc in the coming days.

As the controversy unfolds, the focus is expected to remain on whether the eviction notice leads to legal or political action and whether other government accommodations occupied by senior political leaders also come under scrutiny. For now, Tej Pratap Yadav’s remarks have ensured that what began as an administrative issue has evolved into a broader political confrontation in Bihar.
