Chandrashekhar’s eyes on BSP’s vote bank, took big step before elections

Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram), which is trying to establish its strong presence in the politics of Uttar Pradesh, is now working on the strategy of increasing its support base on a large scale. In view of the upcoming assembly elections, the party is going to take out “Satta Parivartan Yatra” in the entire state from June 4. The yatra will start from Bijnor and will be led by party chief and Nagina MP Chandrashekhar Azad.

Political experts believe that the main objective of this yatra is to bring Dalits, backward classes, tribals, farmers, women and youth voters of the state on one platform. The special thing is that Chandrashekhar also has his eyes on the traditional cadre vote bank of Bahujan Samaj Party.

Trying to gain edge in deprived politics

Chandrashekhar Azad’s political stature has increased after becoming MP from Nagina. After the success in the Lok Sabha elections, he is busy strengthening his party’s organization across the state. Chandrashekhar has many times raised issues like Dalit oppression, social justice and protection of the Constitution from public forums. The party claims that it is working to carry forward the ideology of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and Honorable Kanshi Ram.

Political analysts say that amidst the weakening of BSP’s support base and scattering of Dalit votes, Azad Samaj Party is searching for new political ground for itself. Satta Parivartan Yatra is part of this strategy.

Reservation, education and liquor ban will be the main issues

During this yatra, the party will take many issues of public concern to the public. These include issues like declaring paper leak as a heinous crime, providing free education to students from class 1 to 12, giving reservation in promotion to employees belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes and implementing complete prohibition in the state.

Apart from this, the party is preparing to corner the BJP government on the issues of inflation, unemployment and social inequality. The workers have been given the responsibility to go to every village and locality and communicate with the public.

Special attention on 22 percent Dalit vote bank

The role of Dalit voters is considered very important in the politics of Uttar Pradesh. The number of voters belonging to Scheduled Caste and Tribe category in the state is about 22 percent. This is the reason why all political parties try to include this class with themselves.

Since 2012, the support base of Bahujan Samaj Party has been seen continuously decreasing. BSP did not get the expected success even in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In such a situation, Azad Samaj Party is trying to make inroads into the traditional vote bank of BSP. Although the party got only about 0.5 percent votes in the last assembly elections, but after the Lok Sabha elections, the party leadership is in the field with new enthusiasm.

Increasing influence in western Uttar Pradesh

Chandrashekhar’s greatest influence is considered to be in western Uttar Pradesh. It was from Nagina and Bijnor areas that Mayawati also took her political journey to new heights. Now after becoming MP from Nagina, Chandrashekhar is making this area the center of his political power. The party’s organization is considered relatively strong in Bijnor, Nagina, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar and surrounding districts.

Eye on assembly elections

Political analysts believe that if Azad Samaj Party is successful in connecting different sections of the state through the Satta Parivartan Yatra, then it can play an effective role in many seats in the upcoming assembly elections. However, the biggest challenge before the party will be to expand its support base beyond western Uttar Pradesh to the state and win the trust of the traditional voters of BSP.
