In the case of collapse of an under-construction building in Saidulajab area of Mehrauli, South Delhi, the police have taken strict action and registered a case of culpable homicide against the building owner. Raids are being conducted at various places to arrest the accused. A young man died in the accident, while several other people were injured.
After the incident, relief and rescue operations continued throughout the night. Due to the possibility of people still being trapped under the debris, many agencies including NDRF are deployed on the spot and the search operation is going on.
Chief Minister inspected the incident site
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited the incident site on Sunday and reviewed the relief and rescue operations. During this he ordered appropriate action. After which the administration took immediate action in the matter and registered a criminal case in Mehrauli police station. Also, orders for a magisterial inquiry have been given under the supervision of the District Magistrate of South District.
Strict instructions on dilapidated and illegal buildings
The Chief Minister has instructed the officials to survey the nearby dangerous and dilapidated buildings and take necessary action. Apart from this, it has been asked to run a special campaign against illegal constructions in the capital and to fix the accountability of the concerned officials who are negligent.
Identification of the dead and injured
According to officials, the youth who lost his life in the accident has been identified as 26-year-old Ravi. He was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The injured include Saika Khan (27), Aditya Sharma (24), Tarun Kumar (26), Anuj Dixit (25), Neelam Yadav (25), Kshitij Pratap (25), Aastha (25) and Vishal (24). Treatment of all is going on at AIIMS Trauma Center.
Four storey building suddenly collapsed on Saturday evening
This accident happened on Saturday evening when a four-storey commercial building under construction in Saidulajab area suddenly collapsed. The debris of the building also fell on the nearby tin shed canteen, where many people were present at that time. After the accident, there was chaos in the area and a massive rescue operation was launched.
Nine people were pulled out of the debris
According to the administration, so far a total of nine people have been pulled out safely from the debris. Of these, two people were rescued by local citizens, while seven people were rescued by NDRF and DDMA teams during the rescue operation. One of the evacuated people has died, while the others are undergoing treatment.
