Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has issued a clear statement regarding the recent rumours linking Manchester United defender Harry Maguire with a possible move to Inter Milan this summer.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person suggested that Maguire’s name had been proposed as an option for Inter as they aim to strengthen their defensive department ahead of the new season.

Just two months ago, Maguire signed a new contract with Manchester United, extending his stay at Old Trafford until June 2027, with an option for an additional year.

The club rewarded the England international for his outstanding performances over the past two years and the impressive form he has shown since Michael Carrick replaced Ruben Amorim as manager.

However, reports from Italy indicated that Maguire could still leave Old Trafford to join the Nerazzurri. While Inter’s primary target remains Udinese defender Oumar Solet, Maguire is believed to be a backup option should the Solet deal fall through.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano directly addressed the ongoing speculation surrounding Maguire’s potential switch to Inter Milan.

The Italian journalist clarified that there is currently no concrete development regarding such a move. According to his information, Maguire intends to continue at Manchester United, where he is content and settled.

Romano stated about the reports, “Just denying what happened in Italy.”

He added, “They are mentioning Harry Maguire as an option for Italian clubs, but my understanding is that Maguire is staying at Man United.”

Romano’s clarification is expected to quell any transfer speculation before it escalates and distracts United during what promises to be a busy transfer window.

Manchester United are prioritising strengthening their midfield this summer, but reinforcements in other areas such as left-back, left-wing, and striker could also be considered, especially if Joshua Zirkzee departs.

During the 2025/26 Premier League campaign, Maguire made 23 appearances for United, registering one goal and two assists.
