Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and his wife Cristina Serra are said to be making efforts to mend their marriage after spending three days together in Barcelona during the Easter holidays.
According to reports from Catalan daily El Nacional, the couple is 'ready to give their relationship another try' after spending time together at their family home in Barcelona last weekend. The news comes just months after the pair’s unexpected separation was made public in January, followed by reports that divorce proceedings had begun in February.
Serra, who returned to Barcelona in 2019 along with their youngest child to focus on her fashion business, has built a successful career as an entrepreneur. Guardiola’s decision to extend his stay with Manchester City until November 2024 reportedly caught her off guard, which some sources suggest may have contributed to the strain in their relationship. Recent updates indicate that the City boss now plans to visit Catalunya at least once every week to reduce the time spent away from his wife and child.
The two first met in 1994 and tied the knot two decades later, in 2014. They have three children together.
The 2024-25 campaign has arguably been one of the most challenging phases of Guardiola’s managerial career at Manchester City, particularly given his personal circumstances. As the season approaches its climax, he remains focused on ensuring City secure a Champions League qualification spot and contend for the FA Cup title.
Despite the demanding schedule, the Spaniard is expected to take some time off in the summer to be with his family. However, the upcoming Club World Cup in the United States could limit his ability to enjoy an extended break.
