The Royal Challengers Bengaluru will take on the Gujarat Titans in the Final of the Indian Premier League 2026 on Sunday, May 31, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. While the high-octane clash is taking centre stage, the young starlet Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has also arrived in Ahmedabad ahead of the summit clash.

While his team, the Rajasthan Royals, were beaten in Qualifier 2, the 15-year-old arrived at the venue as a contender for multiple awards in what has been a blistering year for the young southpaw. In his sophomore year, Sooryavanshi has taken the IPL by storm, playing a key role in the Royals' road to the playoffs.

Sooryavanshi currently leads the Orange Cap standings with a stunning 776 runs at a blistering strike rate of 237.30. He is ahead of Titans' skipper Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan, who have scored 722 and 710 runs respectively.

The prodigy also leads the way for the awards for the Most Sixes and the Highest Strike Rate of the season. Sooryavanshi smashed a whopping 72 sixes in the 2026 season, shattering the record of 59 sixes set by Chris Gayle in 2012 for the most by a batter in a single season. His strike rate of 237.30 is significantly ahead of Finn Allen's 214.11 as the highest of the season. Not only that, but he is also in consideration for the awards for the Emerging Player of the season and the Most Valuable Player of the season.

Sooryavanshi has had a dominant run at the top of the order for the Royals. He has scored five half-centuries and one century this season in the IPL. He has taken down bowlers in a dominant fashion all season and has been merciless in his take-down of even the most notable names in the game. He fell just short of what could have been his second century of the season in both playoff games. He came close to breaking Gayle's record for the fastest century in IPL history, but fell for 97 on the 29th ball of the innings against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator, and fell for a well-made 96 in Qualifier 2 against the Titans.
