Chelsea wasted no time reminding fans of their own European success after Arsenal fell short in the Champions League final.
Gabriel and Eberechi Eze both missed their penalties during the tense shootout in Budapest, following a goalless 120 minutes between Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain.
Gabriel, who was arguably Arsenal’s standout performer on the night, stepped up knowing he needed to score to keep his team alive. However, his spot-kick sailed over the crossbar and into the section of jubilant PSG supporters behind the goal.
It was a cruel ending to a gripping contest between two of Europe’s elite sides, and Chelsea were quick to seize the moment to make a playful jab at their London rivals.
Minutes after the final whistle, Chelsea took to social media to promote their stadium tour — prominently featuring their Champions League trophy in the post.
The message read: “Come and visit London’s Home of Trophies. Book your Stadium Tour at Stamford Bridge now.”
With that, Chelsea reminded everyone that they remain the only London club to have lifted the Champions League trophy.
Kai Havertz, who netted the opening goal in Budapest on Saturday night, was also the hero in 2021 when Chelsea defeated Manchester City to secure their second Champions League title.
Their first triumph came in 2012, when they overcame Bayern Munich in a dramatic final.
Chelsea are historically the only club to have won every major European competition, and they added to their silverware last summer by claiming the expanded FIFA Club World Cup trophy.
