Kolkata: The politics of West Bengal has once again become heated. Police on Sunday arrested four accused in the case of attack on TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee. According to police officials, raids were conducted overnight with the help of CCTV cameras and video footage installed in the area, after which the accused were caught.

If there was no helmet, a big accident could have happened: Mamata Banerjee
After the incident, former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee called it a well-planned conspiracy. He said that Abhishek was wearing a helmet during the attack, due to which his life could be saved. According to Mamta, due to the attack, blood clots had formed in her body and she had to be immediately taken to the hospital. The former Chief Minister also made serious allegations against the hospital administration. He said that pressure was put on the doctors and hospital management by BJP leaders and South Kolkata DCP that Abhishek should not be kept admitted for long and should be discharged soon.
In fact, on Saturday, Abhishek Banerjee had come to meet TMC workers affected by post-poll violence in South Sonarpur area. During this time there was a huge uproar. It is alleged that BJP supporters surrounded him and started sloganeering. During this, stones, shoes and eggs were thrown at them. Even his shirt got torn in the scuffle. Seeing the situation worsening, the security personnel made him wear a helmet and brought him out safely from there.

After the incident, he was first taken to Apollo Hospital, where doctors advised him to stay at home and rest. He was later admitted to Belle Vue Hospital. Now his treatment is going on at home under the supervision of doctors. It is noteworthy that Sonarpur area of South 24 Parganas has been a center of political tension for a long time. After the Assembly elections 2026, many violent incidents have come to light here, in which clashes were seen between TMC and BJP workers.
