Lucknow. Farmers have to face many types of risks during farming. Sometimes accidents happen while working in the fields and sometimes natural disasters cause huge losses. In such a time, to ensure that farmers and their families do not face financial crisis, the Uttar Pradesh government is running the Chief Minister Farmer Accident Welfare Scheme.
This scheme provides financial assistance to farmers and their families in case of an accident. The special thing is that its benefits are not limited only to landholding farmers, but are also given to other eligible people associated with farming.
Who get the benefits of the scheme?
The benefit of this scheme is not limited only to land owning farmers. The state government has expanded its scope to include tenant farmers, tenant farmers and adult members of farmer families who are involved in farming. To avail benefits under the scheme, the age of the applicant should be between 18 years to 70 years.
How much assistance is available in case of an accident?
Under the Chief Minister Farmer Accident Welfare Scheme, different financial assistance is given depending on the severity of the accident.
In case of accidental death: Rs 5 lakh
On permanent damage to one arm and one leg: Rs 2 to 3 lakh
On permanent damage to both hands, both legs or both eyes: Rs 5 lakh
Loss of vision in one eye or severe permanent disability: Up to Rs 5 lakh
In case of more than 25% and less than 50% disability: Assistance ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh.
This amount is sent directly to the bank account of the beneficiary or his family.
Which accidents have been involved?
The scope of the scheme has been kept quite wide. This includes not only road accidents but also many other accidents occurring during rural and agricultural work. Under the scheme, assistance can be provided in the following incidents: lightning, electrocution, getting swept away in flood, fire incident, falling into a well or pit, accident due to bite by snake or poisonous creature, attack by wild animals, accident during travel, incidents of murder or violent assault under certain circumstances.
Both online and offline facility
The government has provided both online and offline options to ease the application process. Farmers can apply through e-district portal sitting at home. At the same time, those who have difficulty in the online process can also submit the offline application by visiting their tehsil or concerned office along with the required documents.
