After the tremendous success of Sanjay Dutt’s recent films ‘Dhurandhar’ and ‘Dhurandhar 2’ at the box office, he gave a huge surprise to the cinema lovers last month. Sanju Baba had announced the official sequel of his 33 year old blockbuster and cult classic film ‘Khalnayak’ i.e. ‘Khalnayak Returns’. When the first official teaser of this film was released on 24th April, the old memories of the fans were refreshed and a different craze was seen on social media regarding this gangster drama. Now another very interesting news to this most awaited film is coming out, which has doubled the enthusiasm of the audience. The film is going to see the return of a powerful actor of the 90s, without whom the story of ‘Khalnayak’ is considered incomplete – and he is none other than our own ‘Jaggu Dada’ i.e. Jackie Shroff. Jackie Shroff’s big confession: "100 percent…he must be a commissioner, right?"
It is completely clear that Jackie Shroff will once again be seen sharing the screen with Sanjay Dutt in ‘Khalnayak Returns’. Recently during a media interview, when he was asked a question about this sequel, he praised the project a lot. Jackie Shroff’s funny statement: When Jackie was asked whether he was really becoming a part of this film, he said without any hesitation in his usual style – "Very wonderful… I myself am eagerly waiting for this film. And as far as my presence is concerned, it is 100 percent… there will definitely be a commissioner in the film, right?"
This small statement of his has made it clear that the story has now progressed a lot. In the first film released in the year 1993, Jackie Shroff played the character of ‘Inspector Ram Kumar Sinha’, who, while staying within the ambit of the law, puts the criminal Ballu (Sanjay Dutt) behind the bars. Now he has been promoted in the sequel and will be seen protecting the law as a tough police commissioner. Khalnayak (1993) vs Khalnayak Returns: The journey of the characters You can easily understand the main characters and their status of both the films from the table given below: Actor’s Name Role in ‘Khalnayak’ (1993) Possible Role in ‘Khalnayak Returns’ Current Status Sanjay Dutt Ballu Balram (Dangerous Gangster) Ballu (Next Round of Gangster) Official Announcement and Teaser Out. Jackie Shroff Inspector Ram Kumar Sinha Police Commissioner Ram Conversation Complete, Role Confirmed by Jackie Shroff. Madhuri Dixit Gangotri Devi (Ganga) — Suspense continues, official confirmation is still awaited. Director Subhash Ghai Subhash Ghai (Cooperation/ Guidance) Work on the script and planning of the project is going on at a fast pace. Preparations have started with Subhash Ghai and Sanjay Dutt. Jackie Shroff gave another big hint during the conversation which proves that the film is not just on paper, but work on it is going on at a fast pace. He told that he has already discussed the story of this sequel and his role with producer-director Subhash Ghai and Sanjay Dutt himself. Cinema experts believe that bringing the old original cast back together is a masterstroke by the makers, which will be successful in drawing the audience directly to the theatres. Will Madhuri Dixit (Ganga) also return? When ‘Khalnayak’ was released in 1993, it was included in the biggest hit films of that year. People liked the clash between Sanjay Dutt’s aggression and Jackie Shroff’s simplicity in the film. At the same time, Madhuri Dixit as ‘Ganga’ added romance, drama and wonderful dance to the story. Now that the pairing of Sanjay and Jackie has been finalized for this sequel, there is only one question in everyone’s mind – will Madhuri Dixit also be a part of this film? At present, the makers have not opened their cards regarding Madhuri’s entry and it has been kept completely secret. Fans are hoping that soon the suspense on the character of ‘Ganga’ will also be removed so that this triangular Jugalbandi of ‘Khalnayak’ can once again repeat history on the big screen.
