An unexpected development came to light on Saturday at the nationally and internationally famous Jageshwarnath Dham of Damoh, Bandakpur. In the review meeting of the corridor project being developed by the state government on the lines of Ujjain, two parties clashed with each other in the presence of Collector Pratap Narayan Yadav, due to which an atmosphere of chaos was created on the spot. The police force had to immediately take charge to control the situation.

In fact, under the ambitious plan of the state government, the construction work of a huge corridor on the lines of Mahakal Lok of Ujjain is in progress at this famous religious place of Damoh. The Collector had reached Bandakpur along with his subordinate officers to take stock of the current status and progress of the works of this project. After inspecting the construction works on the ground, an important meeting was called in the office room of the temple. Collector, other senior administrative officers and officials of Temple Trust Committee were present in this meeting.

The meeting was going on in a peaceful atmosphere when suddenly it became hectic. A heated argument broke out between the regional sarpanch and local Shiva devotees over some issue. The crux of the dispute was a long-standing allegation that there has been alleged encroachment by Sarpanch Sunil Dabulya right near the temple premises. This issue of encroachment had become a cause of tension in the area many times before.

Sarpanch Sunil Dabuya got furious in the meeting

As soon as this sensitive issue was raised in the meeting, Sarpanch Sunil Dabuya became furious. His reaction further escalated the situation. After this, a loud shouting match started between the Shiva devotees and the Sarpanch. The matter was not limited to just verbal debate, but within no time the atmosphere deteriorated so much that even a scuffle broke out between the two parties.

During this time, the people present in the meeting, which included the highest administrative officers of the district like the Collector himself, other top officers and respected officials of the Temple Trust Committee, did not pay any attention to him. Both the parties attacked each other and clashed openly. This scene was extremely shocking, because such a confrontation in the presence of high officials was completely unexpected.

Security personnel took charge

Realizing the seriousness of the situation, the police personnel present at the spot and the security personnel deployed to protect the officers immediately took charge. He actively separated the two sides and tried to bring the situation under control by intervening. Only after the prompt intervention of the police and security personnel, the chaos prevailing there could be controlled and the situation returned to normal.

However, after this entire incident the Collector intervened. He gave his advice to pacify both the parties and resolve the dispute. The Collector’s advice had an effect and both the parties maintained their silence. Later, the Collector informed that the dispute has been successfully averted and now all the concerned parties have expressed their consent for the development of the area. This incident has once again highlighted sensitive issues like encroachment around the temple premises, which need more attention in future.
