England made a strong comeback, defeated India by 26 runs with the help of Freya’s all-round performance in the second T20I.

Delhi: In the second T20 International match played in Bristol on Saturday, England women’s team performed brilliantly and defeated India by 26 runs. With this the host team has achieved a 1-1 draw in the three-match series. The biggest heroine of England’s victory was Freya Kemp, who left her mark on the match by showing amazing skills with both bat and ball. He was chosen Player of the Match for his excellent all-round performance.

Freya Kemp gave a strong finish after the contribution of the middle order.

The England team, who came to bat first after winning the toss, got a good start from the top order, but no batsman could play a big innings. Danny Wyatt-Hodge scored 29 runs, while Amy Jones and Alice Capsey contributed 28 runs each. Captain Heather Knight also led the team by adding 18 runs.

However, in the last overs of the innings, Freya Kemp batted aggressively and put pressure on the Indian bowlers. He scored unbeaten 39 runs in just 13 balls, which included four fours and two sixes. Thanks to his explosive batting, England made a challenging score of 168 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs.

Shri Charani was the most successful in bowling from India. He took three wickets for 25 runs in four overs, but in the last overs, England’s batsmen changed the equation of the match by scoring runs rapidly.

Indian batting did not get a big partnership

Chasing the target of 169 runs, the Indian team got a good start, but the run rate kept getting affected due to the fall of wickets at regular intervals. Yastika Bhatia made the maximum contribution by scoring 33 runs, while Smriti Mandhana played an inning of 32 runs. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur also scored 28 runs, but no batsman could stay at the crease for a long time and make a big partnership.

The pressure on the Indian innings increased after Jemimah Rodrigues was out after scoring only one run. After this, the England bowlers strengthened their hold on the match and the Indian team could only score 142 runs for 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Freya Kemp, who shone with the bat, also made an impact with the ball and took two wickets for 15 runs. Apart from them, Lauren Bell and Charlie Dean also shook the Indian batting order by achieving two successes each.
